Despite his humorous intention, Brudniak Also sends subtle messages about the limitations of technology, how scientific change can both forge ahead and lag behind social change.

Brudniak says this sculpture deals with space intervals in time. Interregnum designates a period of freedom from customary authority. In the sculpture the figure of a woman is pushing through a wall of plaster that is embedded in a box whose mirrored lid reflects her image. A laboratory flask slowly drips a crimson colored liquid into a glass tube and demands to be circulated ever so often. Chrome loops and plates hold the various parts in place. The shapes are sensuous and the actions are suggestive. While open to personal interpretation, it suggests the relationships that exist between men and women and the propagation of life.
