Beautiful, otherworldly images can be created by partially erasing certain offset printed materials. Two full sets of 20 postage stamps were done this way [see 32c U.S. Postage Stamp Erasures: Legends of the West Series (1995)] along with some larger images taken from art history books. Each stamp is mounted on a card and renamed in pencil.
