This piece was commissioned by Dr. William Cohn, who became a client and friend as a musician when I was running a recording studio in the mid 1980’s in Houston. The stick had a significance in his childhood involving a friend that I can not recall. Cohn later successfully implanted the first pulseless heart replacement device in a human patient with Dr. O. H. Frazier.
